While the time it takes to detox from substances varies from person to person, detox programs are generally 3, 5, or 7 days long. Detox is considered the first phase of recovery from addiction and should not be considered a substitute for any necessary rehab or therapy to follow.

The programs I’ve researched last anywhere from two days to a few months. How long should a detox program last to be effective? Is two days enough? Regular readers of this column would know that I don’t recommend short, intense detoxes.

If you have the time, a week to transition in and out of a detox is a great time frame. Take 1-2 days of simplified eating, 3-4 days of detoxing with super-simple eating and herbal supports, 1-2 days of simple eating again, then continue on to a healthy balanced diet for maintenance.

Most serious detox plans call for a minimum of 7-14 days. There are, however, ways to do mini detox sessions as well, including one day per week or three days per month. Even stopping eating by sundown is a way of letting the body rest while the natural detoxification processes do their work.

For a time, you may actually feel worse and may conclude that the detox diet is not working. However, the symptoms are signs that the detox program is effective and the body is cleaning and repairing itself of all the toxins. This reaction is only temporary and usually lasts from one to three days.

(And that’s if you have a breakout at all!) But to answer this question directly—a detox breakout can happen anywhere from 2 to 3 days to a week after you’ve started detoxing and really shouldn’t last for more than 2 weeks, tops.

The diet pill withdrawal timeline will last from a few days to weeks depending on the level of your diet pill consumption, how long you’ve been dependent on the drug and your personal body chemistry. First few days: You’ll experience cravings to use more diet pills or other substances, agitation and anxiety.

While the toxins circulate in your bloodstream, you can feel their poison and experience different detox symptoms. But this will only last a few days… maybe 1 to 3 days. But this can differ from one person to another. Some people don’t have any detox symptoms and feel awesome the whole time (lucky them!).

A lot of regimens pointlessly control food intake, but the detox diet plan helps you look for foods that are certainly causing problems to your health. The purpose here is to control the consumption of these foods. You will be required to continue step two for three weeks.
